I got dem iPpod Blues again,- mama...

Today's quote - There is something to be said for having all your music at your fingertips.

Now for a little dissertation on my iPod. My current iPod contains 4,684 items and if left playing it would take 15 days 12 hours and 58 seconds to finish.  What that really means is that I have songs on there that I will never listen to, songs by artists I may not like now and tracks from favorite albums that I have never played when I owned the album, cassette, 8 track, or CD.

Most of my iPod was loaded with a selection from my vast CD collection, when I could not find a particular tune or album that then meant a trip to the iTunes store.

Then came the massive overhaul & major editing of my iTunes Library.
This involved adding the album cover art work to every song that was loaded. Sometimes this meant I had to search via Google images for the cover- save the pic & then load it oi my iTunes. A little compulsive you might add. Let me continue - for all the Beatles songs (that were released as singles) I added the artwork from the UK releases of each single. If no single cover was available then a picture of the single in its original paper sleeve would suffice.

Then I had to weed out the unplayed tunes, the duplicates (never knew how many I had of them), and the, now, unliked. How many times can you really enjoy listening crazy by Gnarls Barkley? maybe in about 10 years when everyone has forgotten that tune - then I may reload it.

Some duplicates had to stay because they the same tune sung/played by different artists.
e.g. 3 versions of Morning Dew, After Midnight, and Baby What You Want Me To Be.
5 Versions of All Night Long, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, and Down By The River.
The top tune is.... Sympathy For The Devil... with versions by Blood Sweat & Tears, Bryan Ferry, Guns & Roses, The London Symphony Orchestra,  Ozzy Osbourne, The Rolling Stones, Sandy Shaw, Natalie Merchant, and Widespread Panic - making 9 copies in all.

Now why did I start this blog today? - because yesterday I spent an hour & a half on the Long Island Railroad and played my iPod to make the time seem a little better - and guess what?

Because of my hard work I listened to 24 tunes (on shuffle) and not once did I forward or skip a song - so maybe I could listed for 15 days 12 hours and 58 seconds. but not all at once....

Have a great day - enjoy your music responsibly.... see you all tomorrow - tell your friends about us.
